ISSHA-SCOR-NOAA Travel Awards are being offered
In order to encourage graduate student participation in the 2025 ICHA, funds have been secured by ISSHA, SCOR and NOAA to provide a limited number of student travel awards.
The application is open to ISSHA student members with active membership. Please register as a new member or renew your membership before submitting this application. Proof of the ISSHA membership number is required. You can apply for membership here: https://issha.org/members-community/become-a-member/.
Strong priority will be given to individuals who are presenting at the meeting, as well as those who have never received a travel award to attend this meeting.
Please complete the application form (see below) and submit all the required documents before the deadline. Incomplete application form or late submission will not be considered.
Note that only applicants from the least developed or developing countries are eligible to apply for SCOR funding. Students from US institutions are eligible to apply for NOAA travel support.
Deadline: 1 June 2025. Decisions will be announced by 1st July 2025.

ISSHA Travel Support for Retired ISSHA members & ISSHA Travel Support for members from Under-represented Countries – 2025 Punta Arenas Chile
In order to encourage ISSHA members whom have retired from service but remained active and members from under-represented countries to participate in the biennial International Conference on Harmful Algae (ICHA), ISSHA is happy to announce travel support to help travel of ISSHA members in the upcoming ICHA in Punta Arenas.
Information about this conference can be found here: https://icha2025.org/. Funding for this program is provided by ISSHA with generous contribution from sponsors. A maximum of 1,000 USD can be requested for travel support, as well a reduction in the registration fee (i.e. the option to register with the student participant fee).
Who is eligible:
– Only ISSHA members are eligible (see below).
For non ISSHA member, please note that you will need to apply for ISSHA membership prior to registering for the conference. This is a separate fee that is not be covered through this awards program. You can apply for membership here: https://issha.org/members-community/become-a-member/.

Manager Travel support for ICHA 2025
In order to encourage resource managers to participate in the biennial International Conference on Harmful Algae (ICHA), the U.S. National Office for Harmful Algal Blooms is happy to announce travel supplements to help support manager participation in the upcoming ICHA in Punta Arenas. Information about this conference can be found here: https://icha2025.org/. Funding for this program is provided by NOAA.
Who is eligible:
– State and tribal managers working in the U.S. to mitigate HAB impacts on water quality, drinking water, and seafood. Note that federal employees are not eligible to receive awards through this program.
– Applicants must present at the meeting, and priority will be given to those giving an oral presentation.
– Only ISSHA members are eligible (see below).

Awards will likely range from $500-$1500, and will be provided as reimbursement following the conference. Reimbursable costs include airfare, car rental, conference registration, mileage for personal cars, accommodations, meals, taxis, etc. After the conference, you will need to complete a WHOI travel voucher for reimbursement and W-9 form and submit them to the National HAB Office, along with your receipts (additional instructions provided at a later date).
